Steve Chamko's football career was delayed by a little thing called World War II. Chamko enlisted in 1940 and served overseass until he was injured in 1944 and discharged. Chamko played for the Windsor Rockets of the ORFU (Ontario Rugby Football Union) in 1945, 1947 and 1949. Inthe between years, he played for the Hamilton Tigers (1946) and the Montreal Alouettes (1948) f the IRFU / Big Four which would later become the East division of the modern CFL. Chamko was a m"Middle" which in today's terminology would be a tackle.
Steve Chamko passed away on May 10, 2013 at the age of 94.
